POSITIVE MINDFULNESS™

An 8-Week Mindfulness Training

Updated for use during COVID-19 as Online Live Training at a Reduced Fee

Learn how to regulate interfering thoughts that keep your mind occupied
(especially at times when you want to live in the moment)

Have you ever wondered how much time on average goes into thinking about what you cannot do… Or wondered about what others have that you have been wishing for but still do not have? And then maybe you caught yourself ruminating about how you have tried to be more mindful, only to realize that you have not progressed (much)? You are not alone, and in fact,  passionate and dedicated people like yourself struggle with implementing mindfulness principles every day.

Mindfulness is a way of learning to relate directly to whatever is happening in your life, a way of taking charge of your life, a way of consciously and systematically working with the challenges and demands of everyday life.

My name is Chris de Feyter, and I love helping to navigate others towards a life filled with awesome moments and purpose. I stumbled upon mindfulness principles about 35 years ago after meeting one of my Japanese mentors (who happened to be a buddhist and a talented classical martial arts teacher). Although his methods of mindful living were somewhat restricting, I realized that for mindfulness to work for me, I had to figure out other ways to fit the concepts with how I wanted to live my life.

Taking those experiences into perspective, it is important to realize that mindfulness is a learning and practicing journey that will keep you going until the end of your days. For that reason it is essential that you start developing your way of mindful living, right from the beginning. Although mindfulness is a complex and multi-faceted construct, by addressing the most important elements one-by-one, you can learn how to breaks down mindfulness in a comprehensive way. Are you ready to start putting the building blocks in place?

But First... Read this Disclaimer

With that out of the way, let's take a look at POSITIVE MINDFULNESS™, an 8-week training to help you navigate towards your Mindful way of life.

Mindfulness Program - Positive Mindfulness™

The Positive Mindfulness™ training is an evidence-based program that offers secular, intensive mindfulness training to assist people with implementing mindfulness into their daily life. The course addresses essential building blocks of mindfulness in 7 sessions, and then integrates these building blocks in session 8. Evidence-based components of modern Positive Psychology and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy are combined with meditation practices from classical Buddhist traditions.

After completing this course, participants have learned methods to integrate mindfulness into their daily lives in a meaningful way, and have gained a deeper understanding of the essence of mindfulness and Positive Psychology.

Course

The Positive Mindfulness™ training includes meditation practices and evidence-based content aimed at learning to use mindfulness to increase well-being and become more resilient in every day life. Participants explore how they can use mindfulness to disengage from ‘over thinking’, break automatism, and instead learn to ‘tap into’ our natural inner stability and resourcefulness to be more appreciative and aware of positive life experiences, and also to manage life’s challenges more easily.

Mindfulness is a lot more than a strategy to manage difficult situations. It is a way to cultivate a more balanced relationship to oneself in relation to the realities of life. Mindfulness can better be understood as a way of being and living rather than a tactic or strategy for life. It entails many different facets and elements. By choosing one specific element of mindfulness to study and practice on a weekly basis, we hope that over time you will experience an in depth understanding of the fulsome nature of mindfulness. In addition to practicing mindfulness meditation techniques, this training also answers questions like:

Understanding the underlying mechanisms makes it easier to apply mindfulness in a wide range of contexts and counteract the misconception that mindfulness is a trick or technique rather than a way of being.

Clinically proven benefits of Mindfulness-based trainings following evidence-based and scientific practices include:

In a Nutshell

Positive Mindfulness™ covers similar topics and meditation techniques that are taught in the acclaimed Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn. Whereas MBSR was designed to help with specific conditions (namely dealing with the stress of an illness), Positive Mindfulness™ targets the greater scale of living mindfully by focussing on the general processes underlying mindfulness practices.

Positive psychology is a branch of psychology focused on the character strengths and behaviors that allow individuals to build a life of meaning and purpose—to move beyond surviving to flourishing. Positive psychology is the scientific study of the “good life”, or the positive aspects of the human experience that make life worth living.

The term Positive Mindfulness™ is an alternative reading for the Japanese concept 正念, “Seinen” (the right mindfulness) taken from one of the 8 noble truths from Buddhism. The character 正 can also be read as “Masa”, meaning “Positive”. Mindfulness is intended to make you become aware of the now including your state of mind.
